Update 2/9/2015 AC/DC has finally announced the first North American concert date for the 2015 "Rock Or Bust" Tour (outside of Coachella). Currently the only N. American concert is scheduled in Edmonton, AB Canada at the Commonwealth Stadium on September 20th. As most know by now Malcom Young is out due to illness & is being replaced by nephew Stephen Young. Also, it has been confirmed that former AC/DC member Chris Slade will return to his drummer role to replace Phil Rudd due to his legal problems. The table below reflects an accurate concert schedule, as of today. Be sure to bookmark us & check back often for updates.
For #TBT (Throw Back Thursday) we bought another AC/DC "Dirty Deeds" [Buy Album ]. This was the first "cassette tape" I ever owned. Surprisingly my parents gave it to me for X-Mas one year. Along with Bob Seger "Night Moves" & my first Sony Walkman. Surely they did not know the lyrics or they never would have given it to me. Thanks Mom! Thanks AC/DC!
Last week AC/DC announced the first dates of their 2015 Tour schedule. This article will be different than other articles posted on this site. First, we do not usually post articles until the bands or singers announce North American concert dates. However, the excitement has proved too much to contain. Currently they have only announced concert dates in the UK and Ireland. Secondly, this article is written with a first person perspective. Rather than a strictly fact based article that reflects information from ConcertTourNewsHub, this will reflect the excitement & opinions of an avid AC/DC fan.
That being said, let's delve into some issues I have been hearing &/or reading about. Of coarse, everyone knows that Malcolm Young has been side lined by dimentia. That information coupled with rumors that Phil Rudd may not make the tour due to legal problems has lead to speculation that the tour may not be a success. Of coarse the rumor takes into account that the only original member of AC/DC will be Angus Young.
To think that these problems will affect an AC/DC tour, I believe, is totally unfounded. Let's face it, Brian Johnson was accepted as a replacement for Bon Scott years ago. No disrespect intended to Malcolm Young. I love him & wish the best in dealing with his illness. Yes, he has been an integral part of making the band what it is today & obviously there would be no AC/DC without him. He has made his mark & will be remembered for at least as long as there are true AC/DC fans. He will be forever known as the co-founder of the rock anthem titan that is AC/DC. It is hard for this writer to imagine a head banger or heavy metal fan that does not know the lyrics to one or more hits from the band. Their hits are legendary gravely vocals & high voltage rythmes & leads in anthems such as "Back In Black", "For Those About To Rock", "TNT", "Who Made Who" & so many more.
Surely, when I see them in concert I want to hear the songs played in the same high octane, adrenaline pumping manner that is expected from the band. However, visually I want to see Brian Johnson belting out the lyrics & Angus Young bouncing around & cranking on his guitar. It seems likely that Angus is a little old to be spinning around on his back on the floor any more. Yet, I highly anticipate him as an exciting part of the show.
To further put to rest any thoughts that the tour may not be a success let's look at sales for thier 15th & most recent studio album "Rock Or Bust" (tracklist below) [Buy Album]. The album sold between 172 & 174K in its first week, depending on which source you use. The album reached #1 on a vast amount of music charts world-wide, including the Canadian Albums, French Albums & Swiss Albums charts. It peaked at #3 on the US Billboard 200 & the UK Albums charts. Do these sound like numbers of a group that cannot have another successful tour?
Another thing that we do not do on this website is recomend articles on another site. Today we are recommending all AC/DC fans read the following article:
